Secrets to Happiness #2
This is Secrets to Happiness #2 it’s a Three-Part Series – Happiness
Happiness is the latest buzzword, but how’s your happiness barometer? I’m back with Secrets to Happiness #2! Next week, I’ll share the final secret in this series!
Secrets to Happiness #2 – Mastering Hardships Leads to Contentment
“A happy life exists not in the absence but in the mastery of hardships.” – Helen Keller
We all deserve Joy, but finding it requires effort. Bliss isn’t a destination—it’s a way of life. When you cultivate it, you’ll reach goals faster, build stronger relationships, perform better at work, and be a joy to be around.
Interestingly, happiness has a set point that remains steady regardless of circumstances. Studies show:
- 50% of your joyfulness is genetic.
- 40% comes from intentional actions.
- 10% is influenced by external factors like health and social status.
Variety, Flow, and Connection
Experiencing variety and spending time in nature are powerful happiness boosters. In fact, did you know that without new experiences, your brain loses dopamine, the chemical linked to joy and motivation?
Like a muscle, your brain thrives on activity. Being in flow—completely absorbed in the present—improves brain health and enhances happiness. Studies confirm that those who experience flow regularly report higher life satisfaction.
Integrating and accepting all parts of life, both good and bad, fosters resilience. Overcoming adversity strengthens your ability to bounce back faster and appreciate life’s journey.
“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.” – Helen Keller
Does Money Buy Happiness?
Society often teaches us that more money leads to happiness. However, research proves otherwise. Once basic needs are met, earning more doesn’t significantly boost happiness. In fact, there’s little difference in happiness levels between someone earning $50K per year and another making $5 million.
What truly makes people happy?
- Strong, supportive relationships with family and friends.
- Pursuing intrinsic goals like personal growth, community involvement, and deep connections.
- Less focus on extrinsic goals such as wealth, status, or image.
- A sense of interdependence with others and the natural world.
- Daily practices of laughter, gratitude, and compassion.
Lessons from the Happiest Places on Earth
Denmark consistently ranks as the happiest country. Why? Citizens enjoy free healthcare and education, and co-housing communities foster connection. Families share meals, children grow up surrounded by elders, and a deep sense of belonging thrives.
In Japan, Okinawans live the longest. Their secret? Rituals of regular gatherings between different villages and generations. Social connection, collaboration, and belonging are highly valued. Even science backs this—cooperation triggers a dopamine release, fueling happiness.
The Heart of Happiness
As Helen Keller wisely said, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched—they must be felt with the heart.”
Joy stems from connection. Be authentic and embrace what truly makes you happy. Since happiness is a skill, the formula isn’t the same for everyone.
Your happiness blueprint includes:
- New experiences
- Play and fun
- Time with loved ones
- Meaningful activities
- Appreciating what you have

Secrets to Happiness #1: Secret 1
Happiness is something we all seek, yet many struggle to find. A common question I hear is, “What are the secrets to happiness?” Over the next three weeks, I’ll be sharing my insights. Let’s start with Secrets to Happiness #1.
Secrets to Happiness #1: Love People, Use Things
“Love people and use things, because the opposite never works.” – The Minimalists
I recently watched a thought-provoking documentary, Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things on Netflix. A friend recommended it, and I found the message incredibly powerful—quality over quantity.
In Western society, we have more comfort and convenience than ever before. Yet, we often crave more—more things, bigger houses, the latest gadgets. While this survival instinct once kept us alive in harsh conditions, today, it fuels a cycle of discontent.
Are You Buying Happiness?
Mass media constantly tells us that happiness comes from having more. We’re bombarded with ads pushing the next best thing, making us believe we need the latest, the biggest, the best. But does accumulating more really make us happier?
Many of us live in homes filled with unused spaces and clutter. If you mapped out which rooms you actually use daily, how much of your house would light up? The truth is, most of us are trapped in an earn-spend cycle, trying to fill emotional gaps with material things.
The Power of Simplifying
Decluttering is a powerful step toward happiness. It’s about keeping what serves a purpose and letting go of excess. Honoring your possessions rather than feeding mindless consumerism brings clarity and peace.
Today’s throwaway culture promotes endless consumption. Fashion trends change weekly. Ads target children with new toys, gadgets, and fast food. The pressure to buy never stops. But here’s the good news—you can choose to step off the hamster wheel.
Instead of chasing more, focus on meaningful experiences, deep connections, and mindful decisions. Ask yourself:
- Do I really need this, or is it an impulse buy?
- Will this bring long-term joy, or just a temporary high?
- Am I prioritizing relationships and experiences over possessions?
Live Intentionally for True Happiness – Secret 1
An intentional life is a key to happiness. It’s not about perfection or deprivation—it’s about balance. Surround yourself with like-minded people, be deliberate with your choices, and focus on what truly matters.
Happiness isn’t about having more; it’s about appreciating what you already have. Stay tuned for Part 2 next week! the Secrets To Happiness #2 (3 part series) where we’ll explore another powerful secret to a joyful life!

How to Influence Others Positively
6 Powerful Ways to Increase Your Influence Others Positively at Home, Work, and in the Community
We all influence those around us—sometimes consciously, other times without even realizing it. The question is, how can you use your influence to create positive change in your family, workplace, or community?
Dr. Robert Cialdini, an expert in influence, shares six key principles that can help you make a greater impact.
6 Key Principles about Influence Others Positively
1. Give Without Expecting in Return
People naturally feel inclined to return kindness. Offer value first—a favor, a compliment, a smile, or useful information—without expecting anything back. Over time, you’ll find generosity coming back to you in surprising ways.
2. Lead with Social Proof
People look to others when making decisions, especially those they relate to. Surround yourself with positive, successful people—their energy and habits will inspire those around you. Strong social networks make a big difference.
3. Be Consistent and Committed
Commitment builds trust. Once people commit to something—especially publicly—they’re more likely to follow through. Encourage co-workers, friends, or family members to take small steps, then acknowledge their progress.
4. Build Connection and Likeability
People prefer to say “yes” to those they know, trust, and like. Find common ground, show genuine interest in their challenges, and offer encouragement. A warm, approachable attitude makes a lasting impact.
5. Establish Authority
When people are uncertain, they look to credible sources for guidance. Show expertise in your field, share valuable knowledge, and present yourself with confidence. When you appear knowledgeable, others are more likely to follow your lead.
6. Highlight Scarcity and Uniqueness
When something is rare, it becomes more valuable. Whether it’s a unique skill at work or a special opportunity, emphasizing what makes something exclusive increases interest. Remind people of opportunities they might miss if they don’t take action.
Final Thoughts
If you feel your influence is lacking, use these six principles as a checklist to identify areas for improvement. Influence isn’t about control—it’s about inspiring change in a positive, authentic way.
Start applying these principles today and watch your impact grow. Happy influencing!

How You Do One Thing Is How You Do Everything – A Life-Changing Experience
A Life-Changing Experience – The Power of Immersion and Breaking Through Limits
Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to immerse myself in a 10-day experience in Fiji. It was truly unforgettable and A Life-Changing Experience. The power of being surrounded by like-minded individuals, all focused on a shared goal, is life-changing. Immersing yourself in an environment of total focus allows you to block out distractions, so you can fully absorb the lessons, both physically and mentally.

How You Handle Challenges Reflects How You Approach Life
The saying “How you do one thing, is how you do everything” became so real during my experience. I was put in a situation where I had to face my fear of heights—climbing and jumping off a very high pole. My heart raced, and I questioned how I would handle it.
What’s Your Pattern When Challenged?
We all have a “go-to” response when faced with stress or challenges. Do you freeze up and avoid it? Do you rush through it without enjoying the journey? Or do you overthink and talk yourself out of your potential?
Facing Fears and Letting Go
As I climbed the pole, I had to focus on moving forward—not looking down or back. This was a powerful metaphor for life. To move forward, you must sometimes let go of the past. And when it was time to jump, the hidden support came, reminding me that even in the scariest moments, there is often unseen support around us.
Breakthroughs Happen in Moments
This experience reminded me that breakthroughs don’t take years. They can happen in a single moment when you decide enough is enough and choose to change. It’s time to leave behind limiting beliefs and step into the life you were meant to live.
Are you ready for your breakthrough? Immerse yourself in the power of change. Bula!

9 Priceless Tips for an Unforgettable Vietnam Adventure
A Journey Through Vietnam Adventure and Hong Kong
Vietnam Adventure! I’m back! After 17 incredible days in Vietnam and 4 exciting days in Hong Kong, I can confidently say—Vietnam stole my heart. As a nature lover, foodie, and adventure seeker, this country offered everything I could dream of and more.
From breathtaking landscapes to vibrant cities and mouthwatering cuisine, Vietnam is a destination that captivates the soul. If you’re planning a trip, here are 9 priceless tips to make your adventure unforgettable.
Must-Visit Destinations – Vietnam Adventure
Ha Long Bay – A Breathtaking Cruise Experience
A 3-day, 2-night cruise through Ha Long Bay was one of the most magical experiences of the trip. Photos don’t do it justice! The longer cruise let us escape the crowds and truly soak in the stunning scenery. We enjoyed kayaking, swimming, and even a cave dinner under candlelight. Rumor has it that overnight cruises might be banned in a few years—so don’t miss out!
Hoi An – A Fairytale Town
This charming coastal town is the perfect place to explore by bike or scooter. It’s small enough to navigate easily but still buzzing with life. A highlight here was The Original Taste of Hoi An Food Tour—a must for food lovers! Find it on TripAdvisor and prepare for a delicious journey through Vietnamese flavors.
Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) – The City That Never Sleeps
This bustling metropolis is packed with culture, history, and energy. With 25 districts, you’ll find everything from Chinatown to ultra-modern skyscrapers. One of the best ways to explore? A 3-hour night Vespa tour, where friendly locals take you on the ride of a lifetime. We also splurged on a stay at Villa Song, a riverside retreat with speedboat access to the city center—pure luxury!
Cu Chi Tunnels – A Step Back in Time
Just outside Saigon, these underground tunnels offer a fascinating look at the Vietnam War. 16,000 Viet Cong soldiers lived here for 20 years, surviving in complete secrecy. Crawling through these tight spaces is an experience you won’t forget.
Overnight Train Adventure
Vietnam’s railway runs the length of the country, offering a unique way to travel. We took an overnight soft sleeper from Hanoi to Danang—watching the countryside roll by was an adventure in itself!
Mekong Delta – A World on Water
Just 3 hours south of Saigon, the Mekong Delta is a maze of floating markets, farms, and river life. Our homestay experience here was unforgettable, especially on Sunday nights when families gather for karaoke—a quirky tradition from past Japanese influences.
Vietnamese People & Cuisine
Vietnamese people are warm, welcoming, and full of humor. Their resourcefulness and creativity are truly inspiring. And the food? Fresh, flavorful, and always a social experience. Street food and markets are the heart of daily life—don’t miss out!
Top Travel Tips for Vietnam
Stick to Local Food
Avoid Western food! My husband and son learned this the hard way after a bad milkshake left them sick for 24 hours. Local dishes have higher turnover, fresher ingredients, and authentic flavors.

One Thing to Celebrate Life Every Day – Celebrating Life’s Simple Gifts
We often overlook the simple joys that come easily—our strengths, our experiences, and even life itself. Yet, every day is a gift worth celebrating.
Imagine how monotonous life would be if everything always went perfectly! Challenges, surprises, and even setbacks shape our journey. They remind us to embrace every moment with gratitude.
Think about the countless synchronicities that had to align for you to be conceived, born, and to have made it to this very moment. This Buddhist quote captures that idea beautifully:
“It is not easy to be reborn as a human being. It is rarer than for a one-eyed turtle, who rises to the surface only once every hundred years, to push his neck through a wooden yoke with one hole that floats on the surface of the wide ocean.” — Buddha Shakyamuni
Celebrate Life and Finding Joy in Everyday Moments
Happiness comes from the experiences that touch your heart—moments of laughter, tears, longing, and delight. Despite our differences, we all share the same human emotions. In the end, life’s meaning is simple: celebrate the things that truly matter.
Take time to enjoy what lifts you up. Follow what brings you love and fulfillment. When you listen to your inner self, your path becomes clear. Step by step, you will feel gratitude, humility, and the joy of living authentically—without unnecessary burdens or doubts.
“Our freedom lies in remaining open continuously, not only to life’s changes but also to the divine light within us & others.” — Peter Santos
The Beauty of Life and Humility
Life’s richness belongs to everyone, yet true abundance brings humility. The English poet William Blake once said that his poems were his, yet not his. He understood that inspiration flowed through him—he was merely its vessel.
Similarly, we do not create truth, love, or freedom—they already exist within us. Once you recognize this, two things happen:
- You release the burden of perfection. Being your best self doesn’t mean being flawless—it means embracing who you are with lightness and freedom.
- You gain a deep sense of humility. We are all part of the vast human story. No one is above or below another. We each play a role in the evolving journey of existence.
Living with Freedom and Purpose
As we move beyond physical evolution, we enter a new phase—conscious evolution. Some will choose to follow traditional paths, while others will step into a journey of spiritual self-discovery.
True freedom doesn’t come from discipline alone. It comes from experience. You cannot train yourself to be free; you must live it.
Freedom means embracing love, creativity, and expansion. Each time you experience true freedom, you naturally desire more. And in return, your true self will guide you toward even greater possibilities.
Accepting the Gift of Existence
Spirituality in celebrate life is simpler than we make it. Value what brings you joy, ask for more, and listen to the guidance within. Life was meant to liberate us, and our role is to accept this gift with open arms.
So today, and every day, I choose to celebrate the incredible gift of being here.
Remember, the best version of yourself is who you are right now. When you embrace the lightness and joy of your existence, you experience true freedom.
Celebrate Today! Reflect and Share
If this message resonates with you, share it with others. I’d love to hear your thoughts—drop a comment below!
Ask Yourself:
- What are three qualities you admire about yourself right now?
- How do you find joy in the present moment, rather than waiting for the future?
- If an angel asked how your life is a blessing, what would you say?
