You may have one for breakfast either by itself or with a boiled egg or porridge or as a snack.
Fantastic for that 2-3pm energy slump instead of a coffee and cake.
Makes: 3 large glasses
Ingredients:
- 2-3 cups water
- 2 handful leafy greens (baby spinach, baby cos, kale, etc)
- 1 banana
- 2 Tablespoon (20g) collagen protein – will keep you fuller for longer & stabilise blood sugar levels.
- 1 apple or pear or lemon (peeled)
- 1 stick of celery (optional)
- 1/2 lebanese cucumber (optional)
Optional anti-inflammatory super-charge: add –
- 3 tablespoons hemp seeds,
- 1/2 small knob fresh turmeric,
- 2 slices fresh ginger,
- 1 tablespoon maca powder (for hot flushes) before blending.
Method:
- Add all to a blender & whizz until smooth.
- Store in fridge for up to 24 hours or consume on the spot.
Variations: Aim to keep the ratio of fruit: vegetables equal or more vegetables. Other fruit options – fresh pineapple, mint, berries, mango, kiwi fruit, orange (no skin), lemon (no skin). Make your own, the combinations are endless.
NB: If you blender is not very powerful, put greens and water in first and blend until smooth. Then add remainder of ingredients through opening in top of the lid until all processed.
