It’s that time of year where – overwhelm, lack of time and celebrations in excess – can mean a decline in our healthy alkaline vegetable intake (greens, etc)
Instead we’re eating more acidic foods like wine, beer, chocolates, cakes and more….
Daily green smoothies or juices can turn this around by getting you more alkaline and feeling ……..more energised, less bloated, thinking clearer, brighter skin, and losing weight.
I’ve also include juices in this because there are some people that really dislike the thick texture of smoothies, porridge and the like. So I say opt for green juices and salads to have the same effect as a smoothie.
Here are three smoothie and juice recipes to help your energy soar, reduce the bloat, have more clarity of thought and help you clear out the rubbish.
Get You Going Green Smoothie
Serves 2
It is creamy, delicious and gives you real energy while flooding you with loads of nutrients.
Ingredients:
1 large handful baby spinach or kale (de-stalked)
½ cup cashew nuts, rinsed
1 avocado
1 vanilla pod, split and seeds scraped
Pinch ground cinnamon
500mL almond, rice or coconut milk
2 tablespoon maple syrup
Method:
Place all the ingredients into a blender and whiz until silky smooth. Add extra milk if you would like it a little thinner.
Green Business
Serves 2
Ingredients:
1 large handful chopped kale or spinach
3 stalks celery
1 Lebanese cucumber
1 cup (60g) roughly chopped broccoli
1 lime
2cm piece fresh ginger
Method:
Juice all ingredients, leaving the cucumber until last to push everything through.
Go Green with a kick
Serves 2
This will appeal to the savoury lovers out there. Great snack or meal replacement (add 20g ( roughly 2 Tablespoons) collagen protein
Ingredients:
1 avocado, peeled and seeded
1 large handful spinach
1 large handful kale
1 Lebanese cucumber
Juice and zest of 1 lime
1-2 cm piece fresh ginger
Handful coriander leaves
1 cup water, and extra if necessary
Method:
Whizz everything together until smooth.
