Here in Melbourne we are full steam ahead for winter yet again. I must admit my least favourite season. But absolutely necessary for the cycle of life. As it cools down and gets darker we can find ourselves in need of a pick-me-up. While the prospect of spring is enticing, we still have many months to go.

Here are 7 tips for How to Refresh Your Mind and Body now.

1. Remember to breathe.
Deep belly breathing is always a game-changer for me in the feel-good department. No matter the weather, get outside, take a walk, and really breathe. It invigorates the soul.

2. Appreciate the sun.
When it peaks through the clouds, bask in it, appreciate it. Sit by the window, get outside even if it’s only for a few minutes. Rays of sun warm, enrich and refresh the soul and are so vital for our health and wellbeing.

3. Laugh.
Laughter is the best medicine. It instantly makes you feel more positive, and a part of the bigger picture of life.
Spend time with friends, watch a funny movie … have a good laugh. It instantly dissolves stress and maximises your health and outlook. Plus stops you from taking life so seriously. We all struggle at times, but we don’t need to stay there. Smile at a stranger, say good morning to your neighbour. Being kind, happy, and more light-hearted will come back to you tenfold.

4. Get dancing.
An instant pick me up transporting you to a time and place of emotional release, uplifting the spirit and instant relaxation in the midst of getting the blood pumping. Go out or do it alone or with your family in your living room. Hold an impromptu, mini-dance party and you’ll be ready to tackle anything.

5. Harness the power of hot and cold.
A sure fire way to revive and restore your energy is a sauna, followed by a cold bath or shower. If this isn’t possible, dare yourself to take a cold shower in the morning (even if the weather outside is freezing) followed by a warm one. You’ll feel wide awake and ready to take on what life throws at you.

6. Nourishing warm soup
What you feed your body has a huge impact on how it functions. Feed it crap and you will get that right back at you. Time to own your choices in this department. Healthy body, healthy mind.

7. Taking time to love and appreciate yourself
Knowing that life is perfect just as it is in this moment. Love your struggles they are here to teach you valuable lessons to prepare you for what is to come. Make peace with your thoughts and focus on where you want to go.

Make a list. If you feel overwhelmed by all your tasks, make a to-do list, and order your jobs by priority. When you’re done with one thing, cross it out. This way, you can stay on top of things and know you’re accomplishing something each and every day. – Wiki How
